Ishasha is not overcrowded by tourists, it's an off-the-beaten-path destination. With our Exclusive Mobile camping formula and our first class equipment we have the advantage to offer this wonderful place in our scheduled Wildlife safaris. When visiting Ishasha we usually spend at least two nights taking time to search for them. The lions stay in big fig trees. The southern circuit of Ishasha has these trees along some of the tracks which increases the luck to find them. The Park Staff knows where the lions have been sighted in the recent weeks and days which helps scouting them as well. But Ishasha has much more to offer than the tree-climbing lions. Experts like Phillip Briggs (Uganda, The Bradt travel Guide - Third Edition) will tell you that "the remote, little visited southern of Queen Elizabeth is one of the most alluring game viewing areas in East Africa!" Large herds of buffalo's, Uganda Kobs can be seen when driving over the plains of Ishasha in the open savannah. elephants are also frequently seen but they are quite aggressive since they immigrated from the heavily poached Virunga National Park in Congo. Ishasha has also one of the best camping sites of Uganda. We camp in the shadow of the woods near the school of hippo's in Ishasha river! This brings an incredible wild atmosphere in the evenings and it's another attraction for our visitors, they can observe them closely during the hot hours of the day. In the swamps near the Ishasha air strip you can sometimes see the shoebill during the raining season. Ishasha is truly one of those places in Africa you can never forget! A Magic place! |
