Do I need a visa?
Yes, you need a visa! Zanzibar is part of the United Republic of Tanzania. When travelling to Tanzania and Zanzibar ensure your passport is valid for six months beyond the end of your stay. You can buy a single-entry visa from any Tanzanian embassy. If you have been unable, or have not had time to procure a Visa in advance, it is possible to obtain a tourists' single entry visa at Zanzibar. It’s best to pay in dollars cash. Departure Tax: Keep in mind in mind that you will pay a departure tax of $ 50 at the airport which is not inclded in your ticket!

Do I need inoculations for Zanzibar?
Yes, vaccination against yellow fever is mandatory. For certain areas vaccinations are recommended but not required. Recommended inoculations are typhoid, tetnus, polio and hepatitis A.
Is malaria prevention necessary?
Yes, generally malaria prevention is necessary in sub-Saharan Africa. You should take appropriate preventive medicine and use adequate protection to prevent mosquito bites (mosquito repellants). We recommend that you visit your physian to have the appropriate medication for you. After dark, use repellents containing DEET.
Departure tax ?
When leaving Zanzibar, you will need to pay a departure tax which is not included in your tickets!
