The Tin Smith of Huye is for insiders nothing new, it was created many years ago by a Benedictine monk. The workshops are located a few kilometres out of Huye (Butare) on the road to Cyangugu and Nyungwe Forest NP. After 1994, the activities of the tin factory had been stopped, but they became operational again since 2003.
The workshops are now completely managed by Rwandese craftsmen. You will find one of the finest handmade use-and decoration objects in pewter of 99% of quality. An entire collection can be seen at the workshops. Due to the expensive labour cost there are only a few places in the world where you can see such a fine art!
Magic Safaris supports this project, by buying these exceptional handmade products you contribute to Rwanda's development.
